Description
Spinosaurus, also known as the spiny lizard, is a genus that lived during the Cretaceous period in what is now North Africa around 106 to 93.5 million years ago. It shows conspicuous, at least 1.69 metre long spinous processes of the dorsal vertebrae, which were probably connected to the skin to form a sail-like structure. Some researchers also suspect that these were surrounded by muscles and formed an elongated hump. The function of this structure is unclear. Thermoregulation and display functions are suspected. According to recent estimates, Spinosaurus was almost 18 metres long and weighed up to 9 tonnes. This would make it the largest known carnivorous dinosaur, ahead of other large theropods such as Tyrannosaurus and Giganotosaurus. The BULLYLAND figure is naturalistically hand-painted and approx. 14 cm high. The lower jaw of the figure can be moved so that Spinosaurus can get a good grip when hunting prey. Age: from 3 years.
