The red deer sheds its antlers between January and March. But don't worry, they grow back again. Every year it gets a little bigger. The older a stag is, the more its antlers branch out. On average, they weigh six kilograms. Older stags can weigh between 15 and 25kg. However, only male stags have antlers; cows have none. They are also pure vegetarians. Grasses, leaves, herbs, shoots from conifers, mushrooms, berries, fruit and acorns are all food for them.
