    Description

The sea-dwelling Elasmosaurus, which colonised the seas of North America and Asia during the Upper Cretaceous period, was the longest representative of the plesiosaurs at 14 metres. Its extremely flexible neck alone was 8 metres long and consisted of around 75 vertebrae. It had four long, paddle-like fins, a small head and sharp teeth, with which it probably hunted fish in particular. As its neck tended to get in the way when swimming underwater, some palaeontologists suspect that it swam on the surface and stretched its neck out of the water. At the right moment, it would then lunge down at its prey with a whip-like movement. The BULLYLAND figure is naturalistically hand-painted and approx. 27 cm long. Age: from 3 years.
